The Sweden-based network video company says educational institutions now need integrated solutions that cover not just security, but daily operations, student welfare, and learning flexibility. As campuses deal with open spaces, shared labs, residence halls, and large events, Axis argues that siloed technology no longer cuts it.
The company offers a platform that ties together video surveillance, audio systems, intercoms, access control, environmental sensors, and edge analytics into one network.
Schools can use this setup to manage everything from detecting intruders and monitoring smoke or breaking glass, to counting people in crowded dining areas and controlling after-hours access to libraries and gyms.
On the safety side, the system runs edge analytics that spot unusual activity and fire off alerts in real time. Security teams can then verify threats through live video and push out audio warnings before a situation worsens.
For day-to-day operations, the platform handles visitor management, staff entry, and congestion tracking across shared facilities. Campus teams can pull up live footage, review recordings, and manage access controls from one dashboard, either on a private network or through cloud access.
In spaces where cameras are off-limits, such as restrooms, Axis deploys environmental sensors that detect vaping and smoke, giving institutions another way to keep campuses clean without invading privacy.
Regina Shang, Regional Sales Manager for Hong Kong and Taiwan at Axis Communications, said institutions need technology that goes well beyond locking doors. She said the goal is to protect people, run operations better, and build environments where students and staff can thrive.
