Key Background:
Bahraini designer Fatima Dito is redefining the world of fashion with her label, D Two, bringing slow fashion and timeless design to an international audience. The brand is based on a desire to work with natural materials and craftsmanship, and as they have already introduced clients in the UK, the US, Belgium, and other countries, they are going to expand their reach into the global market.
Dito, who has a background in computer science, finance, and the arts, says that fashion was never a career change but a natural extension of her professional journey. She explained that fashion is not a career change for her, but a path she has chosen alongside her other work. “Fashion design became an outlet for self-expression, much like music, allowing me to channel my creative vision.”
The philosophy of the brand is rooted in slow fashion, where they do not overproduce and concentrate on good quality, purpose, and meaningful design. Fatima Dito explained that she has always aimed for a D Two to avoid adding to the overproduction common in today’s fashion industry, focusing instead on careful attention to every detail.
The brand sells a multitude of items, such as dresses, jumpsuits, tops, jackets, and matching sets, in a great selection of classic colors, including soft pink, denim blue, grey, white, beige, olive, and yellow. A standout piece is The Solene Dress, created by upcycling two shirts and now a client favorite. Her first line, Aurum rebirth, is inspired by the geometric designs of the conventional Bahraini gold ornament.
International recognition has played a key role in the brand’s growth. Fatima Dito took part in the Paris to Manama residency at the Institut Français de la Mode and joined a program run by Bahrain Labour Fund Tamkeen with the ESMOD Fashion Institute, where she was recognized as one of the top 15 designers in Bahrain.
