Key Background
The Dubai Mallathon was officially inaugurated on 1 August 2025, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The new fitness program has converted nine of the biggest shopping promenades in Dubai into inner fitness centers, furnishing residers and callers likewise with a safe, air- conditioned place to walk and run during the summer.
Malls included within are Dubai Mall, Dubai Hills Mall, Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, Dubai Marina Mall, The Springs Souk, Dubai Festival City, and Festival Plaza. The malls’ cluster provides over 10 kilometres of indoor walking and jogging paths available daily from 7 AM to 10 AM in August.
Aligned with Dubai’s Year of Community, Social Agenda 33, and Quality of Life Strategy 33, the initiative focuses on promoting health, inclusivity, and social wellbeing. Organised by the Dubai Sports Council and supported by the Ministry of Defence, the event encourages participation from all segments of society, including families, children, seniors, mall staff, and members of the ‘MyDubai Communities’ program.
The contestants are not limited to physical training alone; the competition incorporates health awareness stalls, stretching with counseling, and wellness activities such as complimentary health check-ups and dieting. Sports competitions and games on weekends also provide encouragement, where contestants are provided with iPhones, tablets, shopping voucher coupons, and gift cards. Complimentary meals and transport discount vouchers from other sponsors also prove to be easily accessible.
Dubai Mallathon is free and every runner on registration is provided with an electronic participation card. The activity embodies the Dubai vision to instill the active lifestyle, community spirit, and enhanced quality of life within a secure and air-conditioned atmosphere during the summer season.
