The inaugural UAE–Kuwait Women’s Forum opened this week, underscoring the deep-rooted relationship between the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait while spotlighting the expanding contribution of women to sustainable development in both countries.

Organized by the UAE General Women’s Union in collaboration with Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the forum runs until February 4 and forms part of a week-long celebration of Emirati–Kuwaiti relations.

Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Noura Al-Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the UAE General Women’s Union, reaffirmed the strength of bilateral ties and the shared commitment of both nations to advancing women’s empowerment. She noted that the forum reflects a long-established approach to supporting women, recognizing them as essential partners in development and future planning.

Al-Suwaidi praised the achievements of Kuwaiti women in different fields and called the forum an important place for sharing knowledge, successful projects, and strengthening cooperation between women’s organizations in the UAE and Kuwait. She said the collaboration between Emirati and Kuwaiti women is a strong example of Gulf cooperation and shows how women can play an important role in sustainable development and community growth.

The forum also supports joint projects and creates more opportunities for coordination in women’s empowerment and development across both countries.

Alongside the forum, an exhibition showed the work of women entrepreneurs and small business owners, highlighting their role in the economy. Cultural displays also showed the shared bonds between the UAE and Kuwait and how women help preserve traditions.

“Women in the UAE and Kuwait have always been a cornerstone of development,” Al-Suwaidi said, adding that the progress achieved by women in both countries reflects the depth of bilateral ties and a shared vision for a prosperous and sustainable future.

The forum marks a renewed commitment to strengthening cooperation on women’s empowerment and further reinforces the longstanding relationship between the UAE and Kuwait.
