Kuwaiti sailor Amina Shah won first place in the ALKA 6 category at the second Arab Women’s Sailing Championship, held at Al-Maseelah Beach, Kuwait. The event featured 37 competitors from across the Arab world, demonstrating strong skill and competition.
The championship was held by the Sailing, Rowing and Kayaking Committee of the Kuwaiti Marine Sports Club and ended with a ceremony celebrating the winners in all categories.
At the closing ceremony, Khaled Al-Foudari, Secretary General of the Marine Sports Club, praised the participants’ skill and effort. He noted that athletes from the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, Egypt, Algeria, Libya, Sudan, and Kuwait competed strongly for the top positions.
In the ALKA 6 category, Shah’s victory was followed by Emirati sailor Duha Al-Bashar in second place and Oman’s Ibtisam Al-Salmi in third. The Optimist category saw Bahrain’s Malak Al-Dosari take first, followed by Omani Tartil Al-Hasani and Egyptian Laila Diaa. For ALKA 4, the top spot went to Egypt’s Karma Walid, with Emirati Marwa Al-Hammadi second and Oman’s Hadeel Al-Mushifri third.
Al-Foudari highlighted the club’s dedication to supporting women in marine sports and giving athletes a chance to succeed. He also thanked the organizers, sponsors, and media for their support.
The championship, which began on December 2, was supervised by an international panel of referees from Morocco, Algeria, Italy, Poland, France, and Russia. Malaf Shrouf, President of the Asian Sailing Federation, congratulated the winners and praised Kuwait for organizing a smooth and successful event.
