Background-

GC Exchange FZE has promoted Alya Marrakchi to Managing Director, a move cleared by Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority and recognizing her track record building the firm’s institutional business across the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Licensed by VARA, GC Exchange FZE operates as a Virtual Asset Service Provider offering broker-dealer services in Dubai.

Marrakchi came on board with GCEX’s sales team and has spent her time there working to build institutional ties across the UAE and GCC markets. GCEX credits her with growing both the client roster and the deal pipeline in the region over that period.

Stepping into the new role, she now takes charge of GC Exchange FZE as the wider GCEX group pushes further into institutional digital assets across the Middle East.

Her career prior to GCEX included senior business development positions at Hubpay, a cross-border payments firm regulated under the FSRA, and at Clarify B2B in London. She got her start at RisKover, a risk and regulation firm partnered with Moody’s Analytics, where she also played a part in helping the company establish itself in Dubai.

Academically, Marrakchi earned a master’s in International Marketing and Business Development from SKEMA Business School in Paris and a bachelor’s in Finance, Economics and Marketing from IHEC Carthage in Tunisia. Multilingual in English, Arabic and French, her career has taken her through Paris, London, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

This appointment comes shortly after GCEX brought Mohammed A. Mulla onto the board of its Dubai unit. Across its various regulated entities, GCEX Group supplies institutional and professional customers with virtual asset liquidity, forex and CFD products, plus trading technology.

GCEX founder and CEO Lars Holst pointed to the momentum Marrakchi has generated across the UAE and GCC since joining, highlighting her regional understanding, client network and language ability.
