Background

DIU joined forces with the UAE Embassy in Bangladesh to put together a seminar, “Women Empowerment in a Changing World: Leadership, Innovation and Opportunities,” held at the International Conference Hall of Knowledge Tower, Daffodil Smart City.

The discussions covered women’s leadership growth, entrepreneurship, innovation and the opportunities emerging from a rapidly changing world.

H.E. Abdullah Ali Al Hamoudi, Ambassador of the UAE to Bangladesh, attended as Chief Guest and spoke on the role of women’s empowerment in the UAE’s development, touching on women’s contributions to education, business, international cooperation and skilled human resource building. His participation reflected the growing educational ties between the UAE and DIU.

Laura Acker, a multilingual entrepreneur and international business consultant, delivered the keynote address, stressing the value of women’s leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, skills development and lifelong learning in helping women seize opportunities in a fast-changing global economy.

Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of DIU’s Board of Trustees, chaired the event, joined by Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Masum Iqbal, faculty members and students.

Discussions also highlighted DIU RAK Campus in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, established in 2024 as Bangladesh’s first overseas university branch campus.

The seminar, organizers said, provided students, faculty, young entrepreneurs and participants with useful international exposure and real-world perspectives, while deepening knowledge exchange between Bangladesh and the UAE on women’s empowerment and inclusive growth. They also pledged continued efforts to expand academic cooperation with UAE institutions through similar programs.
