Background-

Dubai Municipality has opened the “Athar” exhibition to mark Emirati Women’s Day and honour the achievements of Emirati women. The show runs at Hewi Nad Al Sheba from September 7 to 21, 2026 and points to women’s expanding role across society and the economy.

The word “Athar” means impact and the exhibition builds on the UAE’s push for women’s empowerment. It brings together small businesses and home-based enterprises in one space that mixes entrepreneurship, learning and entertainment. Visitors can explore products and stories created by Emirati women while businesses get a chance to reach new customers.

The exhibition also runs a series of hands-on workshops for around 250 people. Participants include children, adults, senior citizens and People of Determination. The sessions cover fashion design, perfume making, handicrafts and woodworking. A special perfume-making workshop for senior citizens will run alongside the Community Development Authority.

Eman Al Falasi, Chairperson of the Dubai Municipality Women’s Council, said Athar creates a shared platform for entrepreneurship, learning and family activities.

She added that supporting women’s skills means investing in the country’s future, and that the exhibition aims to boost the visibility of women-led businesses in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
