Background
Georgetown University in Qatar and the Qatari Businesswomen Association have signed a three-year memorandum of understanding to push women’s leadership, executive growth and professional development forward across Qatar.
The agreement was signed on June 11, 2026, at QBWA headquarters and runs through June 2029. Aisha Hussein Alfardan, Vice Chairwoman of QBWA, and Rodolph Boughaba, Associate Dean for Executive Education at GU-Q, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.
Under the partnership, both sides will work toward developing and delivering executive education programmes covering board stewardship, executive leadership, strategic communication, artificial intelligence for executives, strategic foresight and governance.
Alfardan said the collaboration aligned with a shared vision to raise the contributions of women to Qatar’s economic development. She said the partnership would give QBWA members access to global expertise and executive learning experiences that would strengthen their leadership impact.
Boughaba said the tie-up created a strong pipeline of talent that would drive organisational and national progress. He described it as a significant step in GU-Q’s commitment to leadership excellence.
The partnership will also open GU-Q alumni to QBWA’s professional network, creating new paths for mentorship and leadership growth. Programmes may draw on Georgetown’s global faculty, subject matter experts and industry leaders, combining international knowledge with regional relevance.
Qatari women make up the largest single nationality group at GU-Q, reflecting the university’s long record of supporting women across all sectors. Over its 20-year presence in Qatar, GU-Q has educated generations of women who now hold senior roles in business, finance, energy, education and culture.
The MoU supports Qatar’s broader investment in human capital and leadership development across the public, private and non-profit sectors.
