Background:
The Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council took part in the Global Forum of Women Leaders held in Sofia, Bulgaria, which gathered over 200 prominent participants from the business community, international organizations and decision-making bodies. The event carried the theme “A Fast-Changing World: Women in the Driver’s Seat,” focusing on women’s growing influence in economic development, technology, digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
During her keynote speech titled “Skills and Leadership for the Future,” H.E. Asma Al Fahim, Chairwoman of the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council, spoke about the important role women play in building sustainable and inclusive development. She noted that when more women take part in leadership and decision-making, it leads to stronger solutions for global challenges across different sectors.
Al Fahim highlighted the fast changes taking place in today’s job market and stressed the need for new leadership approaches that focus on innovation, adaptability and continuous learning. She stated that women leaders are well-positioned to support progress, build strategic partnerships and guide positive change in their communities and industries.
She also praised Abu Dhabi’s progress in supporting women’s economic advancement and credited the continued encouragement from the UAE’s leadership. Al Fahim specifically acknowledged the efforts of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, whose support has helped women succeed in various high-growth fields.
These discussions focused on strengthening cooperation, presenting the Council’s initiatives and engaging with leading figures in technology, banking, entrepreneurship and development.
Among the organizations represented were Sofia Tech Park, UniCredit Bulbank, the Ministry of Innovation and Growth, Artex Engineering and the Bulgarian Centre of Women in Technology.
The Global Women Leaders Forum, organized by the Bulgarian Businesswomen’s Council, is held every two years and provides a place for leaders to meet and work together. Since 2013, it has brought together women from around the world who are committed to supporting women’s growth and building a more inclusive and better future.
