Sabina Ranger: The Founder Building BELLA’s Global Butterfly World

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

— Eleanor Roosevelt

As BELLA grows into a regional beauty favourite, its Founder & CEO is building a world around high-performance vegan beauty, individuality and the confidence to evolve.

For Sabina Ranger, the ambition behind BELLA has always extended beyond the makeup bag. A product can become part of someone’s daily ritual; a brand can become part of how they see themselves. Building both requires a distinctive vision, products that earn their place and a relationship with customers that lasts beyond the first purchase.

That belief is shaping BELLA’s rise across the GCC. With a presence in nearly 100 retail doors, the independent beauty brand is building commercial momentum alongside a growing sense of belonging. At its heart is the Butterfly Squad, where BELLA’s Butterflies come together to share their creativity, celebrate their individuality and connect. Already bringing together more than 300 regional creators, the Squad is helping lay the foundations for the global Butterfly community Sabina is building.

“I want people to fall in love with the products and feel that they belong to our Butterfly World,” she says. “A world where they can express themselves, grow in confidence and feel part of something bigger.”

As Founder & CEO, Sabina brings together product development, creative direction and an instinct for what makes a brand feel meaningful. The butterfly at the centre of BELLA’s identity reflects her belief that everyone deserves the freedom to evolve: to celebrate who they are today, let go of who they’ve outgrown and embrace who they are becoming.

A Personal Insight, an International Ambition

Sabina grew up around entrepreneurship, learning early that ambition comes with responsibility. Building a business demands belief, but sustaining one requires discipline, resilience and the willingness to make difficult decisions.

Her professional grounding in consumer-goods product development taught her to follow an idea through its entire journey, from identifying a customer need to development, testing and launch. It also taught her that a beautiful concept must deliver in practice.

BELLA began with a frustration she understood personally: false lashes could feel uncomfortable and inconvenient. She wanted a better solution. That initial insight grew into a wider vision for high-performance vegan beauty that would help people express every version of themselves.

As a female founder from an ethnic-minority background, Sabina understood the importance of representation. She wanted individuality to sit at the heart of the brand, giving customers room to participate without feeling they had to fit a prescribed image.

“The butterfly is personal to me because it represents the freedom to grow,” she says. “You can change, become more confident and want more for yourself. BELLA should make space for all of that.”

Becoming a Regional Favourite

The GCC has become central to BELLA’s growth. Across its retail presence, the brand has posted strong year-on-year progress and ranks as a top performer in key locations. Its growing visibility reflects a combination of product performance, a recognisable visual identity and relationships built with customers, creators and retail teams.

Together, those foundations are helping BELLA become a regional favourite. Sabina sees that position as something to earn continually, through the experience of using the products and the consistency of the brand wherever a customer encounters it.

She describes the region’s beauty customer as discerning and engaged, with high expectations of both performance and presentation. For BELLA, that means the formula, packaging, storytelling and retail experience must support one another.

“The first purchase is an opportunity. The repeat purchase is trust,” she says. “We have to earn both.”

That thinking gives the brand’s creative ambition a commercial focus. A distinctive world can attract attention, but lasting growth depends on products people want to use again, retail partnerships that work and teams who understand the customer.

For Sabina, regional momentum is the foundation for a wider international ambition. The aim is to carry BELLA’s identity into new markets while staying attentive to the people who make it relevant in each one.

Belong to the Butterfly World

At the heart of that ambition is the global Butterfly community Sabina is building: a space for customers and creators who connect with BELLA’s belief in individuality, transformation and self-expression.

Its regional creator network, the Butterfly Squad, already brings together more than 300 creators across the GCC. Their different voices and perspectives allow the brand to come to life in ways that feel personal, making the community an active part of its story.

Sabina wants that sense of participation to extend across borders. Her vision is for people to connect through a shared outlook while bringing their own cultures, tastes and experiences into BELLA’s world.

“My vision is a global Butterfly community where everyone feels free to be themselves and ambitious about who they can become,” she says. “We are building that connection one product, one conversation and one relationship at a time.”

Digital platforms help make that vision tangible. Customers can see the products, the process and the founder behind the brand, while sharing their own experiences in return. For Sabina, those conversations are valuable both creatively and commercially: they reveal what resonates, what needs improvement and where the next opportunity may lie.

The community also gives BELLA’s butterfly symbolism a purpose beyond its visual identity. Transformation becomes a shared idea that each person can interpret for themselves.

Innovation That Earns Its Place

BELLA’s approach to innovation combines imagination with discipline. The team has spent years developing products and exploring ingredients inspired by flowers, fruits and crystals, while maintaining its commitment to high-performance, vegan and cruelty-free beauty.

Sabina asks every new idea to justify its place. Does it solve a problem? Improve the experience? Offer something customers genuinely want? And can it deliver at the standard expected of BELLA?

“A product has to earn its place in someone’s routine,” she says. “Beautiful packaging creates anticipation. Performance is what makes someone reach for it again.”

Her framework brings creative and commercial decisions together. An innovation must feel unmistakably BELLA, serve the customer and support the business’s direction. That clarity helps the team develop a coherent collection rather than a series of disconnected launches.

Technology supports the process by making customer feedback, retail results and campaign performance easier to review across markets. Sabina also sees opportunities for artificial intelligence to accelerate research and expand creative exploration, while keeping human taste and judgment central to the final decision.

Leadership Through Clarity and Trust

International expansion has changed Sabina’s understanding of leadership. Early on, she felt that being a strong founder meant holding every answer and overseeing every detail. Today, she places greater emphasis on setting a clear direction, choosing the right people and giving them the confidence to own their work.

“Leadership means remaining clear and composed while still making people feel respected,” she says.

She builds trust through consistency: being candid about progress, acknowledging problems and making sure the team understands what needs to happen next. She values ideas from colleagues closest to the customer, whose daily observations can identify opportunities that would otherwise be missed.

That openness comes with an expectation of ownership. Sabina wants people to understand the objective, exercise judgment and bring possible solutions when challenges arise. Creative, operational and commercial strengths all have a place in building the brand.

“Empathy and accountability are not opposites. In fact, I believe the most respectful thing a leader can do is be clear,” she says.

When performance falls short, she starts by understanding why: whether expectations were unclear, resources were missing or something else needs to change. She then agrees the action, timeframe and support required. For a growing beauty business, where timing and detail affect both customers and partners, that clarity matters.

Resilience Behind the Growth

Some of BELLA’s most important progress happened before it was visible to the outside world. Product development takes time, expansion brings complexity and delays can challenge plans backed by substantial effort and investment.

Those periods taught Sabina patience and sharpened her focus. She and her team returned to the fundamentals: product quality, clear positioning and strong relationships. The quieter chapters helped establish the foundation for the brand’s next stage.

“Persistence does not mean repeating the same approach indefinitely; it means remaining committed to the destination while being intelligent enough to change the route,” she says.

Her advice to emerging founders reflects those lessons. Build something rooted in what you believe. Act before you feel completely ready. Protect your individuality. Stay close to the customer. Choose people whose values you trust as carefully as you assess their talent.

A Butterfly World with Purpose

Sabina takes pride in BELLA’s commercial progress, but she also wants growth to carry responsibility. Through the Butterfly Fund, the company commits 1% of its profits to causes that matter, particularly mental health and education.

That commitment connects with her wider vision of transformation: giving people greater confidence, opportunity and room to fulfil their potential. She hopes the people she leads will feel that she helped them think bigger about what they could achieve.

“You can lead with softness and still make decisive choices,” she says.

As BELLA’s regional presence grows, Sabina’s ambition is to build a global Butterfly World that people feel they belong to—one that celebrates their individuality, their becoming and every chapter still to come.

“I want everyone who discovers BELLA to discover their inner butterfly: the person they were always meant to be, on their own terms. To celebrate who they are today and feel excited about who they are becoming. That is what BELLA means to me—beauty for every chapter of your evolution.”
